The World Environment Day is commemorated 5 June each year, being the vehicle through which the United Nations stimulate awareness of the global environment as well to promote political attention and action.
The theme for 2010 is "Many Species. One Planet. A Future , a message that focuses on the vital importance for the welfare of humanity and for species and ecosystems. The theme also supports International Year of Biodiversity held this year.
